About me

Hi, I am Sejal D’Souza. As an experienced manager in the tech industry, I have mentored and built engineering teams and managed complex programs for companies like AirBnB, Nike and startups like InVision app. Currently I am part of the amazing Chrome team at Google where we build the future of the web impacting 3 billion users around the world. I enjoy building products from the ground up and seeing them evolve and grow.
My passion for social enterprise drove me to create programs that have a strong social impact. I created Dhwani (which in Hindi means “sound”) in 2015 to promote technical education for under-privileged children in remote villages of India. In 2017, I created PDX Empower to mentor and build confidence in women working in the tech industry. In 2018, I spoke at the Support Driven Conference to share Agile best practices based on multiple independent Agile product development trainings I conducted.
Outside work, I am an avid hiker and hopelessly in love with the outdoors. I can never refuse a challenging hike with beautiful views. I call it forest bathing. I have summited South Sister in Oregon at 10358′ and my favorite hikes are Saddle Mountain (3287′) on the Oregon Coast and Dog Mountain (2949′) in Washington. In fact, I have hiked them multiple times in every season – rain, shine or snow. I have also hiked North Dome in Yosemite and completed 38 miles of the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) in Lake Tahoe.
I also love traveling and exploring new places. Getting out of my comfort zone encourages me to adapt to new circumstances and learn new cultures and habits. I love the sense of adventure that accompanies exploring new territories and not knowing what to expect. You can read all about it in my travel blog The Traveling Sage.
Besides hiking and traveling, I also enjoy reading, painting and yoga. Most recently, I have taken to road biking and surfing as my new hobbies and hope to do lots more of it.
I moved to the Bay area in 2019 and live with my husband, 2 cats and 1 dog – Bagheera, Kaju and Simba. I enjoy meeting new people and finding new adventures. So if you’re in the Bay area and want to meet up do reach out.
